Susan Vaillancourt
Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer
With more than a decade of experience in public relations and marketing communications, Susan Vaillancourt serves as president and chief executive officer of SV Communications. In this role, Ms. Vaillancourt is responsible for strategic public relations counseling and planning, account management, project management, media and analyst relations, and writing and creative planning for all clients. Over the course of her career, Ms. Vaillancourt has handled marketing communications and public relations activities for high technology, consumer/retail, and telecommunications companies, as well as non-profit organizations.
Prior to founding SV Communications, Ms. Vaillancourt was responsible for corporate communications activities for Genuity Inc., an Internet services provider. When the company filed for bankruptcy and simultaneously announced its acquisition by Level 3 Communications in the fall of 2002, Ms. Vaillancourt served as an integral member of the team that handled media, employee, and analyst relations. At the completion of the sale, she joined Level 3, where she led internal communications activities, including those related to the Genuity integration, a significant corporate reorganization, and the acquisition of Telverse Communications, a wholesale Internet Protocol communications service provider.
Previously, Ms. Vaillancourt handled marketing initiatives and worldwide public relations strategy and programs for Davox Corporation, now Concerto, Inc.; and regional marketing and public relations activities for GameWorks, a joint venture between DreamWorks, Universal Studios and Sega.
Ms. Vaillancourt began her career at Temerlin McClain, formerly the largest advertising and public relations agency in the Southwest, where she held positions of increasing responsibility. There, she worked with a number of clients including AT&T, American Airlines IdeAAs in Action, Collin Street Bakery, The Forum at the Woodlands, Global Industrial Technologies, Inc., Grapevine Mills, JCPenney, Long John Silver's, Marriott's Brighton Gardens, NationsBank, NationsCredit, Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc., Snelling Personnel, and William M. Mercer.
Ms. Vaillancourt has worked closely with national and regional publications such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the Dallas Business Journal, among others. She has also placed a number of stories on major radio and television stations nationwide, including "The Today Show" on NBC and the "Crook and Chase" show on FOX.
Ms. Vaillancourt earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration at Northeastern University. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and is on the board of the Seacoast Aquarium.
